Where to Start, by Jenny Emerson, LMFT, LMT

Have you ever been overwhelmed? Don't know where to start? Don't know how to get out of a rut? Scared you are stuck in that rut forever? Yeah, me too.

There is no magic formula. There is no perfect road map. There is no certain, just one, perfect way to get ahead. The only thing that is required of you is to take a step. t may be the "right" step. It may be the "wrong" one. Just know that your inner your voice is the only one assigning this value. If it brings about what you deem as positive results, great. If not, great.  Either way, you learned something and that is whole our purpose in life - to constantly be learning and growing.

My mentor has taught me that there are no mistakes in life, just different lessons to learn. This mantra has given me so much freedom. It relieves a majority of the overwhelmed feeling because I know I can't get it wrong. If I take a step to the right, I will learn how to live with those results. If I take a step to the left, I will learn how to live through these. If I keep my focus on the love of learning, taking steps comes easier. The only way out of being overwhelmed or stuck is just to take a step!

So today may you find ways to take steps. Remember, all steps count regardless of size. Maybe you need to send an email. Maybe, you want to go to the library to do some research. Maybe you want to call a friend and ask for help. ALL STEPS COUNT SO GO FOR IT!

Grace to you as you step through life.
