The Tornadoes of our Lives, by Jenny Emerson, LMFT, LMT

The recent tornadoes in the Southeast remind me of my life. There have been some very dark days where everything got turned upside down. Times where I have lost a lot, if not practically everything. I have had to sort through the rubble. I have had to put the pieces back together.  I have had to rebuild my life.

Following these times, it never fails, the sun comes out again. My life progresses forward. I experience growth. I take the lessons of the loss and let them shine as beams of hope for a stronger tomorrow.

What I am learning is to trust. Trust that the sun will shine again. Trust that I am able to live through painful events. Trust my higher power, which I call God, has not and will not forsake me. Trust that the loss of one thing can make room for something better to come along. Trust that I am and life is… enough.

The spiritual journey of a physical lifetime is tumultuous but worth every bump along the way.

May you be safe though the mighty winds blow around you.

Jenny
